一年一度的點心設計邀請展來囉
還不太知道這個展覽由來的新朋友

去年的點心展有許多展品是在老林居拍攝的喔!

今年的點心設計展以「見本」為題
邀請大家一起探見設計的根本
「見本」一方面致力將概念表達為完整的商品
另一方面也不要忘記設計創作的根本價值
讓社會朝向品質與品味兼具的生活邁進。
This year, Dian Shin sets its title as "FundaMENtal",
invite everybody to discover the foundation of design.
FundaMENtal worked hard to transform concepts into complete products,
and do not forget the original value of creating design at the same time,
giving the society more quality and taste in life.

此次也特別挑戰無文字說明的展覽方式
設計師必須更用心去傳達自己的理念
觀眾也要更用心去感受
並用自己的方式去詮釋取得與自己生活的連結

This time they try to display without explanation.
Designers must work harder to express their ideas,
the visitors also have to feel it harder,to get the connection with their lives.

融入竹編圖騰的作品 / With patterns of bamboo weaving

今年有許多展品都使用竹材 /
Many products were made of bamboo

繽紛的展品們是器皿上纏繞線 /
These products are bottles with vivid threads

融入厲害的傳統技藝/
With amazing traditional techniques

『見本』在台南的展出即將在本週日結束
現在正在台北花博公園圓山爭豔館展出
趕快利用這個週末去看看吧!!!

The display in Tainan ends this Sunday.
The exhibition will take place in Taipei in October,

日本來的大驚喜 Big surprise from Japan - ARANZI ARONZO!!!

老林居開幕至今一年來
接待過十幾個不同國家的朋友們

每個國家的風土民情不同
人的個性和習慣也不同
透過接待和相處我們感受著這樣的不同

也覺得非常有趣

After opening in May 2013,
We met so many new friends
from about 13 different countries.
Every country has its local customs and practices,
the personalities are all different.
Through the accommodation
and getting along with them,
we found the differences and felt interesting.

在這當中
日本客人的"好禮"、"多禮"
一直是令我們非常驚歎且印象深刻的
我們遇到的第一位日本客人
在聊天的同時
一邊訴說著日本對台灣的感謝
一邊落下感性的淚水
隔天還送給我們有著美麗圖案的敷巾(ふきん)
讓我們非常的驚喜

AMong all,
the politeness that the Japanese guests show
always make us surprised and impressed.
Our very first guest from Japan,
told us how Japanese appreciate Taiwan,
and dropped her sentimental tears while chatting.
The next day, she gave us
two ふきん(fabric) with beautiful patterns.
We were surprised and delighted by the secret present.

在那之後的日本客人也都非常客氣
來的時候一定會說"お邪魔します"(打擾了)
受到幫助的時候會不停的道謝
要離開的時候也會跟在場的每個人道謝兼道別

After that, all the Japanese guests
are very polite and kind.
Always say "お邪魔します"
(Excuse me for disturbing) on arrival,
keep saying thank you when we offer any help,
express their appreciation and say goodbye
before they left.

今年的五月
來自大阪的ARANZI ARONZO團隊一行四人
因工作前來的他們
包下了整個二樓在老林居留宿了四天
抵達的第一天
就先送給我們お土産
是大阪本店限定的仙貝一盒
(超可愛的我都要尖叫了!!!)

In May this year,
A team of 4, from ARANZI ARONZO in Osaka,
came on business purpose.
They booked the whole 2F
and stayed 4 nights in Rolling Inn.
On the arrival, they gave us a souvenir,
it's a box of crackers which is only
available in their Osaka Main Store.
(So adorable that I can't help screaming!!)

期間她們一直都非常客氣
即使是連續住四天
但去幫她們清潔倒垃圾跟補水的時候
還是可以發現他們把所有的東西都擺得非常整潔
還有很多地方都可以看出她們的細心和禮貌
跟她們聊天泡茶也都非常愉快
離開前和她們拍了照片
她們說如果再來臺南
會非常樂意再來拜訪我們: )

During the stay they were really polite.
We found out while doing daily cleansing & resupply,
they still kept the space clean and neat everyday
even though they're staying 4 nights,
You can see how they care about the details
& politeness, from many sides.
It's so delightful to chat with them.
We took a picture with them before they left.
They said if they came to Tainan,
they would love to visit us again.

過了幾週後
有一天忽然收到一個來自日本的包裹
裡面有好幾張她們的卡片
還有好幾捲ARANZI ARONZO的紙膠帶!!!
真的是非常驚喜的禮物!!!

A couple of weeks later,
We received a package from Japan.
there are postcards
and many lovely masking tapes
from ARANZI ARONZO!!!
Such an amazing surprising gift!!!

感謝ARANZI ARONZO可愛的大家
帶給我們很棒的回憶
很多可以學習的事
還有可以嘴角上揚好幾天的理由
也希望你們在台南進行的事順利喔!!!

and a reason to keep smiling for many days!
We also send our best wishes and hope

林百貨進駐完成即將重新開幕！/ Hayashi Department Store reopening

千呼萬喚的林百貨
82年前建造引領潮流的“五層樓仔”的
終於要在這個週末6/14重新開幕了!

The long-awaited Hayashi Department Store,
which was built 82 years ago,
is going to reopen this weekend on 14.June!

歷經三年困難重重的修復
去年夏天林百貨曾短暫的開放兩個月
讓大家能近距離觀看修復的成果

After 3-year-long repair,
which was filled with difficulties,
Hayashi Department Store has opened 2 months
shortly in last summer,

so that people can see the achievement closely.

時隔近一年
林百貨終於完成了百貨進駐
在今天6/11舉行了記者會
搶先披露做為全台第一座文創百貨
林百貨嶄新的風貌

Almost one year since then,
Hayashi Department Store has completed its pre-procedure
and held its press conference,
reveal the brand new look
of the 1st cultural & creative department store in Taiwan.

昨天6/10
幫朋友一起去林百貨佈置櫃位
也得以有機會搶先看到一點點的新貌
雖然當時大家似乎還很忙亂(？)
但有些地方已經進駐完成
和去年夏天空曠沈靜的模樣相比
現在有了各式各樣的展品和店家進駐
展現出更多元的活力

是完全不同的魅力喔!

Yesterday, 10 June,
I went to help my friend with her setting in there.
Therefore I got the chance to see a little bit of its charm.
Although staffs seems to be really busy,
but some of the settings were done.
Compare to the way it is last summer,
which is empty and calm,
now there are various of exhibits and stores,
it shows a great diversity of energy.
It's a totally different charm!

不過也要提醒您因為林百貨是老建築了
空間也不比現代百貨公司
站在保護的立場上是有限制人數的
一次僅能容納470人
如果當天無法入內
也可以另外擇期去看看
這個台南新熱門景點喔!!

But also have to remind you that,
Hayashi Department Store is an old building,
the space is not as big as the new style ones.
In order to protect it, the allowances of people will be limited.
Only 470 people at the same time.

子淳阿伯來訪 / Uncle Jasen Lin came back

四月的時候，老林居的原屋主
也就是林麗水醫師的大兒子林子淳夫婦
從美國回到台灣，和許久不見的親友們小聚幾日
也順道在老林居留宿了兩晚

Jasen Lin, the original owner of Rolling Inn,
also the eldest son of the Dr. Li-Shui Lin,
came back from the U.S. in April.
He came to have some reunions with relatives & friends,
also stayed in Rolling Inn for 2 nights.

林麗水醫師是我的大伯公
在他的三個兒子中，子淳阿伯排行老大
小時候我總聽爸爸輩們叫他“大きい兄ちゃん”(大哥)
老林居就是他們三兄弟長大的家
我們接手過來後其實閒置在那裡許多年
兩年多的改造從堆滿雜物開始
一點一點地再造他的風采
改造快要完成的時候他們也回來過一次
對再次看到房子美麗的樣子深受感動

Dr. Li-Shui Lin is my grandpa's brother.
Uncle Jasen Lin is the eldest in the 3 brothers.
I used to hear my dad & uncles call him "大きい兄ちゃん"
(means the eldest brother in Japanese)
Rolling Inn is where they grew up.
We took over the house many years ago
and it stayed unused for a long time.
The more than 2-year-long reform
started from cleaning the piled stuffs,
step by step remake its beauty.
They also went back when the reform is nearly done,
and they're touched to see how beautiful the house is.

難得回來大家也決定保留整棟的空間
讓他們可以盡情的回味

We seldom have chance to treat them,
so we decided to keep the whole space, just for them,
so they can enjoy the aftertaste as much as they want.

這趟回來大家開心地敘舊
我也聽到了許多以前的故事
有親朋好友來訪總是很開心的事
能聽到原屋主的回饋
也讓我們對於繼續做這件事
更加堅定

We chatted a lot this time
so I also heard some stories of the old times.
It's always a joyful thing to have relatives & friends visiting.
To hear the feedback form them,
truly gives us more confidencesto keep doing the thing.

周晬誌慶! 老林居滿周歲 / Rolling Inn's 1st Anniversary

歷經為期長達兩年多的改造
老林居在去年的五月五日
正式開幕了

After the more than 2 years long reform,
Rolling Inn announced its opening officially
on 5th May last year.

時間過得很快不知不覺地
老林居也在一年後的現在
迎來了第一個周歲

Time flied by without even noticing.
After one year of hard working,
Rolling Inn is now greeting the 1st anniversary.

這一年，老林居過得極其精彩
除了自己辦了好幾次活動
茶會網路抽獎活動
還第一次參與了設計展拍攝
第一次協助學生拍片
第一次作為迎娶地點參與客人的人生大事
第一次有客人在這裡拍攝婚紗
第一次被寫在書裡成為在台南生活的理由
第一次被採訪報導
第一次舉辦同學會
認識許許多多的新朋友
除了台灣以外還有來自13個國家的朋友

Rolling Inn had a spectacular year.
We held many activities,
tea party & online lotteries.
And we also experienced many things,
1st time as shooting scene for a design exhibition,
1st time helped student film production,
1st time welcomed the bride, participated in guest's big event,
1st time helped making wedding photos,
1st time being written in book
as one of the 100 reasons to live in Tainan,
1st time being reported,
1st time held a class reunion,
besides Taiwan, knew lots of new friends from 13 other countries.

這麼多新朋友們
每個人都不一樣
有的喜歡聽我們講故事
有的不吝於分享自己的故事
老林居也在經驗中學習如何和大家相處
聽到有人說喜歡老林居的時候
都會打從心裡感到開心
能得到大家的支持鼓勵
我們真的很幸運

So many new friends,
all of them are individual.
Some of them like to listen to our stories,
and some love to share theirs.
Rolling Inn also learns how to get along with everybody.
Every time when we hear somebody says that
he/she likes Rolling Inn,
we all sincerely feel happy.
We're really lucky to have
so many people's supporting & encouragement.

After many days of bad weather,
Mother's Day is a super sunny day.

(分享)在台南生活的一百個理由 / 100 reasons to live in Tainan

今天來跟大家介紹一本新書
[ 在台南生活的一百個理由 ]

Today I'm introducing a new book,
its name is "100 reasons to live in Tainan"

寫這本書的作者何芊澐
是大學系上優秀的學妹
書裡面以生活的角度介紹了許多
小吃甜點市場生活空間咖啡店民宿店家等

甚至是她自己的生活方式和體驗

Sybil Ho, the author of this book,
is a junior in my department in uni.
She introduces many snacks, desserts, markets,
cafés, B&Bs, and many other shops,
even her own experiences and the way how she lives,
as these are all part of her daily life Tainan.

老林居有幸成為這一百分之一的理由
希望能讓來到臺南生活的放鬆的遊玩的人們
都感受到這種台南的美好氛圍
老林居的庭院還被選為書本最前面的大圖之一
真的是非常非常榮幸的事阿

Rolling is honored to be one of the 100 reasons.
We hope the people who come to live, relax or play in Tainan,
can feel the wonderful atmosphere.

As a Tainaner, I'm also proud of my hometown.

2014月津港燈節 / 2014 Yuejin Lantern Festival

從2012年起
台南市的燈會就選在鹽水的月津港舉辦
沒有喧囂的的煙火鞭炮
取而代之的是沈靜的氣氛
夜色裡的水月燈
伴隨著輕音樂
緩緩帶出這個小鎮的迷人風采

Since 2012,
Tainan City Government has chosen
the Yuejin Harbour in Yenshui to be the place

to held its Lantern Festival.
Without noisy firecrackers and fireworks,
the calm atmosphere takes the place.
Under the dim light of night,
with the soft music,
the water, moon, lights,
slowly bring out the charms of the small town.

2014月津港燈節主燈 / The main light of 2014 Yuejin Lantern Festival

月津，是鹽水的舊名
這個因“蜂炮”而知名的小鎮
曾經是農產品的集散地
早年商業往來川流不息
也因此留下許多低調而華麗的建築物
處處可見舊時的風華

Yuejin, is the former name of Yenshui.
The town which is known for its "Beehive fireworks",
was a commercial center of agricultural products.
Many deliveries and payments were done here,
therefore, there are many low-key but gorgeous architectures.
You can see the elegance of the old times all around.

附近的永成戲院
是二戰後鹽水的三家戲院之一
現在修復為多功能藝文中心
現在搭配著月津港燈節的活動
可以在挑高的木屋頂底下
坐在舒適的木椅子上看電影

The Yongcheng Theatre naerby
is one of the 3 theatres built after the WWII.
It's now reformed as a multi-cultural & artistic center.
Now because of the Yuejin Lantern Festival,
people can sit on the cozy wooden benches

underneath the wooden roof,
enjoy watching movies.

圓形燈非常有趣 / The round lights are interesting

月津港燈節今年仍然邀來了國內外許多藝術家
沿著岸邊水上放置了許多精彩的藝術品
值得大家去流連一番

The Yuejin Lantern Festival still invites many artists
both from Taiwan and other countries.
Many fantastic art works were placed

along the riverside and on water.
It's definitely worth going around.
