拆除了原本的車庫，
我們在入口處建了一座玻璃屋，
在這裡，抬頭就能看見百年的龍眼樹和仙桃樹交錯成蔭，
我們在這裡等待旅人們，
一起來樹蔭下，泡茶、喝咖啡、聊天。

從玻璃屋前往老林居兩層樓高的建築，
沿著地上的紅磚路，往左是入口，往右是花園。
花草樹木在院子裡生氣勃勃地生長，
噴水池裡的魚也愉快地穿梭，
還有瓦片、石板凳、保留下來的房屋木框架和糯米牆，

老醫生曾經使用過的診療床，框架被拿來再生成了飯桌，
老碗櫥靜靜地座落在一角，和牆上的三個篩子相映成趣。
可以簡單地在步行僅五分鐘之遙的國華街買些小吃回來，
在此享受老厝用餐的悠閒。

有別於常見的磨石子梯下半部是鐵杆，
通往二樓的這座樓梯全部都是以磨石子建造，非常扎實，
還有好幾種不同顏色。
